Ley de Ausencia Familiar y M\u00e9dica, com\u00fanmente conocida como FMLA, es el estatuto federal que se asemeja a la Ley de Derechos Familiares de California, o <a href=\"\/california-family-rights-act\/\">CFRA<\/a>. La FMLA se aplica en todo Estados Unidos. La <strong>FMLA<\/strong> le permite (si su empleador tiene al menos 50 empleados) tomar hasta <strong>12 semanas de ausencia no remunerada con protecci\u00f3n laboral<\/strong> en un per\u00edodo de 12 meses con el fin de:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>ser cuidador de su c\u00f3nyuge, progenitor o hijo con una condici\u00f3n de salud grave;<\/li>\n<li>establecer v\u00ednculos con un reci\u00e9n nacido, hijo adoptivo o hijo de acogida;<\/li>\n<li>atender y recuperarse de su propia condici\u00f3n de salud grave (incluyendo embarazo);<\/li>\n<li>ocuparse de \u00abexigencias calificadas\u00bb relacionadas con asuntos militares, como pasar tiempo con un miembro de la familia en servicio activo durante su permiso de corta duraci\u00f3n de las Fuerzas Armadas, la Guardia Nacional o las Reservas.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Mientras se encuentra en FMLA, su empleador debe continuar proporcionando <strong>beneficios de atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica<\/strong>.
